Getting success in small steps
Impossible dream.

All of us at some point in life have had a dream of becoming somebody special, somebody famous. I don’t think there is any boy who have not at least fantasized about being the one that made the Super Bowl winning touch-down. Or a little girl dreaming of becoming the beauty queen, the Miss World. Is there anybody who have not dreamed of being successful, happy, rich or other pleasant visions of life?
We often dream big and aspired by it, which is good. However, most of our dreams just remain a dream and whatever aspiration we had fades away fairly quickly.
Instead of living the exciting adventures of realizing the dreams, we get caught up in the routines of our everyday life. Some of us just barely making it. This is what we call “reality”?
But this “reality” can be so much better if we learned to aim higher.
Impossible is the word that stands in the way of our dreams. People start thinking that I can’t do this and really get hung up on it. It’s too hard, it’ll take so much work, it’s impossible.
Can you imagine if everybody thought this way? There would be no new ideas, innovations, and no breakthroughs in accomplishments. Can I beat that world record? Nah, it’s impossible. I Know Michael Phelps didn’t think that way in Beijing Olympics.
According to a theory When the scientists studied the bumblebees, they concluded that it is impossible to fly based on their weight, physical size, wing area, etc…..Thank goodness nobody has told the bumblebees they can’t fly.
Some of us suffer from dreaming totally outlandish drams and not acting on them. Broken dreams and shattered aspirations are the common results.
When we limit ourselves with self-doubt and self-limiting assumptions, we will never be able to break past what we think as impossible. When we dream too high into the sky without a plan to get there, you will be left hanging on to the impossible dream.
So, how do we get to the impossible dream? Think of some goals or dreams you want to achieve. Get a piece of paper and make three columns and label the first column things you know you can do, label the second column things you might be able to do, and the third one impossible for you to do. Now list your goals in one of the three categories.
Give your best efforts to accomplish the goals under things you know you can do. As you accomplish your goals, check them off the list. As you are going down the items on column 1, try tackling some the items in the second column which is things you might be able to do. And check them off as you accomplish them.
You should be feeling pretty proud of yourself when you have checked off all the items under things you know you can do and even have some of the itmes under things you might be able to do checked off. congratulations!
Now look at the list under things impossible for you to do. Do you think some of the items may be moved to “might be able to do”? Review each impossible items and see if you can attack it as “might be able to do”.
As you are reassessing the impossible items, some of the goals you thought were impossible become might be able? So, was it really impossible or was it all in your head?
This excersice was to shed self-doubt and self-limiting your thoughts and actions and work toward reaching your goal one step at a time.
Please remember that it is not smart to set goals that are a truly unrealistic or not really giving your best shot at achieving your goals . You are just setting up yourself for disappointment and lose your focus.
A hundred years ago if you told somebody that it was possible for man to go to the moon, you would’ve been laughed at by all. Or if you had said that it was possible to send a message to anywhere in the world in matter of seconds, you would’ve been told that you are crazy. These seemingly impossible dreams are reality today through sheer desire and perseverance.
A quote from Thomas Edison that said “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”. Nothing could be farther from the truth for one to reach their goals and dreams, hard work and discipline is essential part of the ingredients. Also remember that you need to aim high for that 1% part of the ingredient.
Any gym nut will tell you that there’ll be no gains unless you push yourself out of your comfort zone. As they say, no pain, no gain.
Same principle applies when it comes to reaching your goals and dreams. Don’t let what you “think” is your limit, dream big and work diligently towards your goal one step at a time. You will no doubt realize one day that your impossible dreams are getting closer to reality.
