Stay Motivated About Goals

How To Stay Motivated About Goals In Your Life

Staying motivated and sticking with the plan is not easy to say the least.  You’re super excited and motivated one day and the next day you’ve ran out of gas and not really feeling like doing anything.  It happens to all of us.  It’s not easy to keep up the motivation throughout your journey to reach your goals.  But it can be done.

Have you ever started something and had a really good feeling about it?  Filled with enthusiasm and motivation, you were ready to tackle this project.  Along the way, you encounter some detours, unexpected failures and your pace and enthusiasm slowed down. You may even have gotten depressed about it and decided to give up, all those positive energy when you started became negative thoughts.

We’ve all been through these scenarios where failures causes us to simply give it up.  All that positive thoughts in the beginning ends as dreams become reality and this causes us to lose our confidence.

You must find the ways to turn these negative emotions around.  I know it’s easier said than done, but you must analyze what caused this negative emotion.  When we lose focus, we tend to lose our motivation and confidence.  When you learn to control these three emotions, you can learn to control your life.

First, focus on what do you really want.  Be positive and specific and focus on ‘want’ as we generally think in terms of what we don’t want.  Do not focus on your fears but what can be done to overcome your fears.  In the same token, don’t focus on being poor but make a plan to create wealth.

Make a list of negative emotions and make a plan to eliminate or minimize them one step at a time.  Focus on your plan to achieve your goals and your objectives.  Be realistic on your goals and take small steps toward your goal.  Goals that seem unattainable can lead to depression. By achieving smaller goals toward your ultimate goal will boost your confidence and motivation.

You will probably realize that you’re more successful than you think when you focus on what you already have rather than what you don’t.  When you think about what you lack and compare yourself to others, you’ll become jealous.  It’s another negative emotion that can hinder your progress.

There will be no motivation when you don’t have a direction.  Make a day by day plan, a to-do list.  It sounds overly simplistic but making a list and checking off each item as it is completed is a powerful strategy that can work in your favor.  It will give you a sense of satisfaction as you complete and check off one project and will also help in your confidence department.

Making a list can also remind you of things that needs to be done and good discipline strategy in your journey to achieving goals.  With a list, you won’t forget a step and worry about it later.  For example, have you gone shopping without a shopping list and realized you forgot to pick up something when you got home?  I know I have.  It’s the same principle.

When you feel like you’re running out of steam, don’t worry or get depressed about it.  It’s an opportunity to step back and look at the big picture and find out what went wrong and what you did right. Discover your faults and take actions to correct them.  It’s also a chance to re-evaluate your plans toward your goal and make necessary adjustments in your steps.  It will give you a fresh perspective and renewed level of motivation and enthusiasm.
